Dr. Paul Sanghera

San Francisco Bay Area

A scientist, teacher, author, and an entrepreneur, Dr. Paul Sanghera, has diverse background and experience in computer science, molecular bioengineering and bioinformatics, and high energy physics, overlapping traditional academic boundaries, but joined by a common thread: Data Science including Computer Programming. His have earned several graduate degrees in three science areas including: Master of Engineering in Computer Science from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, U.S.A; MS in Biomolecular Engineering and Bioinformatics from University of California at Santa Cruz, U.S.A.; and Ph.D. in High Energy Physics from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada; and a B.Sc. with triple majors: physics, chemistry, and math from India. Working Individually and in collaborations, Paul had authored or co-authored about 150 research papers published in well reputed American, Canadian, European, and international research journals; made presentations by invitation at several International scientific conferences and led various groups within international scientific collaborations such as CLEO at Cornell and OPAL at CERN. Dr. Sanghera’s research experience includes working on big data experiments at particle colliders at the cutting-edge high-energy particle physics labs at Cornell and CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research); that’s from where and when the field of Big Data started. Dr. Sanghera’s research work in physics includes contribution to the Standard Model of the Universe by making most precise measurement of the strength of strong nuclear force of nature through testing the quantum theory of fundamental particles of nature by analyzing experimental data. His Experience with the computer, Internet, and web technologies goes back to the very beginning as a member of the team of high energy particle physicists at CERN for whom the World Wide Web was originally invented to meet their computing needs. On the IT industrial and entrepreneurial side, Dr. Sanghera had been at the ground floor of several startups in Silicon Valley, California and elsewhere, and contributed to the development of state-of-the art information technologies such as Novell’s NDS, the first computer network management system; Netscape Communicator, the first commercial web browsers and web server; and also one of the first commercial Web storefronts at Weborder Inc that was used by Netscape for its e-commerce system. In IT industry, he served in various roles ranging from software engineer to director of engineering, to director of project management. Adjunct Faculty Dr. Paul Sanghera had also authored over dozen of books on diverse topics in science, technology, and project management published by publishers such as Wiley, McGraw-Hill, and Cengage Learning; including three books on project management by Cengage Learning and Apress, and two books on program management by Wiley and J. Ross Publishing; two books on JAVA programming language by Manning and Apress; an undergraduate college level physics textbook: Quantum Physics for Scientists and Technologists by Wiley; three booklets on introductory biology; one book on evolution. Along with research and development, Dr Sanghera has diverse life-time experience in the field of education, both as a student as well as a teacher, in three countries (covering two continents): U.S., Canada, and India; add one more continent, Europe, regarding his research experience.
