Dr. Joseph Scalzo holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Rochester and a Master of Arts in History from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. He has an extensive teaching background, having served as an online history instructor for National University for over 17 years. In addition to his work at National University, Dr. Scalzo has taught at Empire State College, Excelsior College, and American Public University.

Dr. Scalzo’s academic expertise spans a wide range of historical subjects. He has taught surveys in world, American, and European history, as well as specialized courses such as historiography, globalization, American women’s history, American business history, the history of science and technology in the Western world, Revolutionary America, and the Founding Fathers. His graduate-level instruction includes courses on Ancient Greece, Republican and Imperial Rome, and the Renaissance and Reformation, among others.

With his profound knowledge and vast teaching experience, Dr. Scalzo has made significant contributions to the academic study and teaching of history, guiding students across a broad spectrum of historical topics and eras.
