Course Description:

In our Logistics and Supply Chain Management course, it equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to oversee the coordination of logistic functions within an enterprise. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of logistics within a firm’s Supply Chain Strategy and Operations, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the value creation process.

Students will explore the foundational framework of Supply Chain Management, delving into the five logistics operational components. They will learn about challenges and strategies related to design and operational integration within a global supply chain, as well as administrative challenges such as cross-organizational collaboration and performance measurement.

Throughout the course, students will examine real-world examples and case studies to understand how firms deal with operational challenges and utilize logistics performance to gain a competitive advantage. The integration of information technology is a key focus, highlighting its role in enhancing logistics operations.

By the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge in procurement, internal control, storage and handling, just-in-time manufacturing, shipping and delivery management, transportation, budgeting, and resource allocation. They will be prepared to manage the associated coordination of all logistic functions effectively within an enterprise, contributing to its overall success and competitiveness in the marketplace.

Course Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management course, the student will be able to:

  • Coordinate all logistical functions within an enterprise, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution.
  • Implement effective strategies for procurement and purchasing to ensure the timely acquisition of materials and resources.
  • Establish internal controls and procedures to optimize storage, handling, and transportation of goods and materials.
  • Apply principles of just-in-time manufacturing to streamline production processes and minimize inventory costs.
  • Develop comprehensive supply chain plans to optimize the flow of goods and services from suppliers to customers.
  • Manage shipping and delivery operations to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize transportation and logistics management techniques to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain product integrity and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage budgets for logistics and supply chain operations, including resource allocation and cost estimation.
