Master of Natural Resource Management.
B.Sc. Honours.
Dr. Alan was born in England, raised in the Canadian prairies, and spent a decade living in the Arctic before relocating to the United States. He now resides in the Mojave Desert near Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Alan holds four academic degrees: a Bachelor of Science (BSc, Hons), a Master’s in Natural Resource Management (MNRM), a Ph.D. in Economics and Ethics, and most recently, a Certificate in Studio Practice. This two-year program allowed him to refine his skills in woodturning while studying Art History and Drawing.
During his Master’s program, Dr. Alan received funding from the Ford Foundation, and in the final year of his doctoral studies, he was awarded a grant to cover his tuition. Throughout his career, he has successfully integrated his academic knowledge into his work, spending half of his time as a management consultant. Initially self-employed, he later joined a national firm where he eventually managed the northern office. In his final years as a consultant, Dr. Alan worked independently with several Yukon First Nations, assisting in the negotiation of a treaty with the Federal Government. This landmark agreement covered 16,000 square miles of land and included approximately $450 million in various compensations.
Dr. Alan has also dedicated 25 years to teaching at the college level, specializing in subjects such as economics, finance, remedial math, and philosophy, including Great Philosophers and Business Ethics. He takes great pride in supporting his students, offering them the guidance and opportunities needed to successfully complete their studies.
