Before taking the official certified test, students are strongly encouraged to begin with the free Duolingo practice test. This helps you:
- Understand your current English level

When taking the practice test or the official certified test, you must complete the test independently. Please do not use:

Ready for the Official Test?
Once you are ready, you may proceed to the official certified Duolingo English Test through the official Duolingo website.
After receiving your official result, please share your score with Windsor University so that we can continue processing your admission requirements.

When sending your result, select Windsor University United States Undergraduate in the Duolingo system and submit your score according to the provided instructions (guidance here).

Accepted English Proficiency Tests
Windsor University recommends the Duolingo English Test as one of the most accessible options for demonstrating English proficiency. However, applicants may also submit other accepted English proficiency tests listed on the university website (full list here).
English Test Waiver Eligibility
In some cases, applicants may qualify for an English test waiver if they meet one of the following conditions:
- You completed one academic year of study at a university or college in a country where English is the official language, excluding intensive English language programs.
- OR. You are enrolled in a U.S. institution and have completed a 100-level English Composition course along with at least 12 credit hours of 100-level courses; this applies only to bachelor’s degree programs.
- OR. You hold citizenship in one of the countries recognized by Windsor University for English waiver consideration.
All waiver requests are subject to university review and final admissions evaluation.
